Amparo in China: Training, Workflow Flexibility, and a Shared Vision for Better Prosthetic Care
Amparo recently travelled to Shenzhen, China, for a 3-day visit with our partners at TehLin, marking another important step in our collaboration to support lower-limb prosthetic care across the Chinese market.
The visit took place during the inauguration of TehLin’s new facility, a modern clinical and training space equipped with the latest O&P technologies, including the Amparo System. It was a privilege to be part of this milestone and to see Amparo included in a facility designed to advance prosthetic care, training, and innovation.
Supporting TehLin’s Clinical Team
This visit was focused on distributor training, direct customer training, follow-up support, and hands-on clinical education.
The training brought together 10 CPOs and members of the TehLin management team, creating a strong environment for technical learning, workflow discussion, and practical application.
For Amparo, training is not only about demonstrating products. It is about helping clinicians understand how the system can fit into their daily practice, support their existing processes, and create more options for different patient needs.

A key focus of the visit was Amparo’s core message:

Every clinic works differently. Some teams rely on traditional fabrication methods, some use direct-fit approaches, some work with pressure casting systems, and others combine several methods depending on the patient, the clinical situation, and the tools available.
That is why the Amparo System is designed to be flexible.
During the training, the TehLin team explored several fitting workflows, including:
- Majicast + Trust Socket for hydrostatic weight-bearing shape capture
- Össur Icecast compatibility + Amparo Sockets for clinics already using Icecast equipment
- Icecast + Resilience Socket using a dedicated Amparo adaptor
- Wrapping technique + Resilience Socket for direct-fit training
- Socket heating, preparation, adjustment, and finishing techniques
This variety of workflows reflects one of the main advantages of the Amparo System: clinicians can choose the method that works best for their clinic, their equipment, and their patients.
Majicast and Trust Socket: Weight-Bearing Shape Capture
One of the key training areas was the Majicast + Trust Socket workflow.
Majicast supports hydrostatic weight-bearing shape capture, helping clinicians capture the residual limb under load. This matters because a residual limb does not behave the same way when unloaded as it does when the patient is standing, bearing weight, and preparing for movement.
By combining Majicast with the Trust Socket, clinicians can create a more functional and repeatable starting point for socket fitting, while also having the flexibility to check, refine, and validate fit.
This workflow is especially relevant for clinics looking to improve shape capture consistency and support a more controlled pathway from limb capture to socket fitting.
Introducing Icecast Compatibility with Amparo Sockets
Another important part of the training was introducing the team to Össur Icecast compatibility with Amparo Sockets.
For clinics that already have Icecast equipment, Amparo now offers a dedicated compatibility solution that allows clinicians to use this existing workflow with Amparo Sockets.
This creates a practical bridge between familiar in-clinic equipment and the benefits of Amparo socket technology, including comfort, functionality, adjustability, and remouldability.
The Icecast + Resilience Socket workflow showed how Amparo can support clinics that want to integrate our sockets without completely changing the systems they already use.
Resilience Socket and the Wrapping Technique
The team also received training on the Wrapping technique + Resilience Socket workflow.
This was especially valuable for newer CPOs, who were introduced to the steps required to heat, prepare, shape, and finalise the socket. The session covered practical details such as correct heating times, temperature control, socket stretching, trimming, and finishing.
The Resilience Socket is designed to support adaptable fitting pathways, especially for patients whose residual limb volume and clinical needs may change over time. With remouldability, pressure adjustment possibilities, and multiple suspension options, it gives clinicians more flexibility throughout the rehabilitation process.
Hands-On Learning and Strong Engagement
One of the most encouraging parts of the visit was the engagement from the TehLin team.
The CPOs were motivated, curious, and highly involved throughout the sessions. Both experienced clinicians and those newer to the Amparo System were able to test different workflows and build confidence with the products.
By the end of the training, the team had worked through multiple fitting methods and gained a clearer understanding of how Amparo can support different clinical scenarios.
It was especially rewarding to see how quickly the team engaged with the different workflows and how strongly they connected with the idea of using Amparo Sockets in the way that best fits their clinic.
Working Together for the Chinese Prosthetic User Community
Our collaboration with TehLin is built around a shared goal: helping more lower-limb prosthetic users in China access comfortable, functional, and high-quality prosthetic care.
China is a large and diverse market, with different clinical needs, patient profiles, and care pathways. Supporting this market requires not only strong products, but also training, local partnerships, technical support, and flexible workflows.
That is why working closely with TehLin is so important.
Together, we are building the knowledge, confidence, and clinical experience needed to bring the Amparo System to more users across China.
Looking Ahead
This visit to Shenzhen was an important milestone in Amparo’s continued work in China.
It strengthened our partnership with TehLin, expanded clinical confidence in different Amparo workflows, and reinforced the value of building socket solutions that adapt to existing clinic tools and patient needs.
